Chidinma Ekile Biography
- Chidinma Ekile (born 2 May 1991), known professionally as Chidinma, is a Nigerian gospel singer and songwriter. In 2010, she rose to stardom after winning the third season of Project Fame West Africa. Following the release of the music video for her “Emi Ni Baller” single, she became the first female musician to peak at number 1 on the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 chart. In 2011, she released the Sound Sultan-assisted single “Jankoliko”. Her eponymous debut album Chidinma was released through the music platform Spinlet; it was supported by the singles “Jankoliko”, “Carry You Go”, “Kedike” and “Run Dia Mouth”.
- The album features guest appearances from Sound Sultan, Tha Suspect, Olamide and Muna. Chidinma won Best Female West African Act at the 2012 Kora Awards and performed “Kedike” at the ceremony. She is recently signed with Eezee Concept, with the release of her song, Jehovah Overdo.

- Chidinma studied Sociology at the University of Lagos. She initially wanted to study Mass Communication. Chidinma declined her admission into the University of Lagos due to her advancement in the aforesaid competition. In an interview with YNaija, Chidinma said that she has always taken school seriously and her decision to enroll at Unilag was inevitable.

- The peak of her fame came in 2010 when she became the winner of Project Fame 3. Project Fame, also known as Project Fame West Africa or MTN Project Fame West Africa, is a music talent TV reality show filmed in Lagos and aired in the West African subcontinent.
- This reality show gave her the much-needed musical experience and career advancement. Before she took part in Project Fame 3, she had always admired the show and always wanted to be a participant.
- In 2010, Ekile dared to take part in the show’s casting. The singer had to compete with over 8000 other singers who wanted to show their talents that year.
- She got lucky and was chosen for training along with 17 other participants. They received training in vocal, oratory and choreography for two and half months, which enhanced her music career more.
- The training helped her interact with various musicians who had already stormed the industry with their hits.
- By the end of season 3 in 2010, she emerged as the winner, going home with a valuable prize of N2.5 million, a fancy 2011 Toyota RAV4, and a production deal.
- After the delightful triumph, she began to work on her album. The singer collaborated with several producers, and each of them brought something unique to the overall result.
- Ever since her first release, the singer has risen to great fame, releasing more amazing songs. In May 2013, Chidinma signed an endorsement deal with MTN Nigeria.
- Collaborations with other talented singers and producers have allowed her to create truly high-quality music that her fans appreciate.
