The songwriter revealed that the song was inspired by Proverbs 20:27, which is recorded in the Bible. “The candle of the Lord is the spirit of a man.” (Proverbs 3:16)

Furthermore, when discussing the source of the inspiration, he explained that God uses our spirit as a candle in order to show us what He wishes for us to see. His Spirit walks side by side with our spirit, guiding and speaking directly to us. And He does it in a gentle manner.
